Teachers should invite students into their rooms at 8:35 AM to prepare for the beginning of the school day. The first bell rings at 8:40 AM. Students arriving after 8:45 AM are considered tardy. Students arriving between 8:45 – 9:15 AM are to be marked tardy on the attendance form by the teacher. If a student arrives after 9:15 AM, he/she should be sent to the office for a tardy slip. During the school year chronic tardiness will be addressed.
The following procedures will be followed when addressing chronic tardiness:
- Three tardies within a nine-week period - teacher will call the parent
- Six tardies within a nine-week period - the attendance clerk will call the parent
- More than six tardies within a nine-week period - the school social worker will make a home visit
